Xanga has gone a little crazy, too many extra things and I'm too far behind. Anyways...

I've made it through opening night and I am officially a theater kid. And I love it.

I realize I've been a little behind with this, and I have quite a few things to say.

When I got back to school this semester I decided I would do everything that I said I would do last semester instead of just talking about it. And so far, I have. I auditioned for the musical, Little Shop of Horrors. The auditions went very well. I was so close to getting Audrey, they told me I had the best voice for her, but another girl acted the part much better. I am, however, going to be playing Crystal, one of the other lead female roles. I'm still very exited because (I haven't seen it yet) but apparently the other three girls do the majority of the singing and all the dancing. Plus, they're very sassy girls, this could be pretty fun.

I also joined Walsh's choir and I love being able to spend a few hours each week simply singing chorale music. The director here is like the male version of Sally, he's incredibly excited about what he does and he's very expressive. Plus, the choir apparel looks pretty nice along with the pearl necklace and earrings we wear with it.

I finally joined the church band and will be singing at mass on Sunday nights. They do a lot of the type of music from SEARCH and everyone's just excited to be there.

I've been made senator for the drama club and am helping with fund raising for the behavioral sciences club.

It's only the end of week two but I'm feeling great about this semester. From now on, when I want to do something or be part of something, I'm just going to do it.

For the record, the musical is March 27 28 29 30 and April 3 4 5  at the North Canton Playhouse!

Checkpoint.

Bad news.

The director for the play hasn't been at practice for the past week which was when all the parts were moved around to accommodate the cast. She was there last night and changed everything back around. Girls cannot play guy parts in this play therefore my exciting new part was taken back. I am once again a backstage voice and nothing else. She brought in two guys that she managed to find, hopefully they will learn to act. I still hope the play will be as great as we thought it would be, but I'm definitely not as excited as I was before.

Silver lining?

Since I don't really need to be at practice, ever, I can go to all the club meetings I have been missing.

Win some. Lose some.

It's been a long time, but when life's on a roll, you don't stop to write it down.

For those unaware, I am Walsh University in North Canton and I absolutely love it. Taking the chance to even apply to this school was the best decision I've ever made. However, not taking any honors classes has been quite a change. School is easy, just time consuming. IB has truly proved useful thus far as I have had no trouble writing papers, studying, and taking tests.

I'm on the golf team here and thats proved to be more work than the classes. I practice everyday unless by some act of God I'm not able to. We had our first tournament on Monday and although I didn't play my best, our team placed second and got some nifty looking awards. We have another match on Friday, on our home course, and now that I'm much more relaxed about playing again in tournaments, I think I'll do much better.

I love living on campus, even though I must survive without air conditioning. I've stuck to my guns and not gone home except to pick up a book in the mail. I even got around to doing laundry here, I forgot to put in a dryer sheet but the clothes were fine. The people I've met here are amazing and I love my hall. With such a small school, it wont be long before I really do know everyone. Trips to the dollar theater, Handles, and 2 a.m. trips to IHOP are already classics. We've already been on road trips to downtown Cleveland, the Akron Art Museum, and downtown Kent. Yes, those are all considered road trips. I think I would have liked most any school but being here, I know it was the best choice.

I decided to go out on a limb not too long ago and I auditioned for the fall play, Over the Tavern. I hadn't been in a play since before high school but the audition was a lot of fun. It's a small play, only seven parts, but I managed to scrape a few lines. All said offstage. However, due to a lack of guys auditioning, our inability to find more, and one of the few guys dropping out all the parts were rearranged. I am now an onstage act, Georgie, the 13-year old retarded boy. Go ahead, chuckle if you must but it is a very interesting part and I'm so excited about the play. It's an active role, a lot of giggling and staring into nothing, I've been practicing for it my whole life. So if you find yourself anywhere near the area the first two weekends of November, come see the play, it ought to be fantastic!
